Frequently Asked Questions about Billing

Yes you can use the billing module both as standalone module and integrated with your existing system. As well you can use out-of-the-box accounting module which is in package together with billing module.
If you want to exchange data (e.g. invoices and payment information) between your existing accounting system and billing module you shall implement data exchange.

In Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central , you can display the user interface (UI) in different languages. Your version of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central can include multiple languages by default, and you can add additional languages to an existing deployment.
You can add a language layer by importing a language module, or you can import a Multilanguage file that contains newly translated strings.

Any printout and screen form in the system are Multilanguage enabled and can be translated into local language. In particular - Invoice form in the system is a report. You can request report caption in form of TEXT file and translated yourself.
If you want to customize the layout of the invoice it can be done using Word. You can download an existing word template and adjust it, or you can create new one. For more information see How to create a Word Report Layout for a Report.

The servers and data are located in the certified datacenters and are secured accordingly TIER III certification criteria.
  • Tier 1 = Non-redundant capacity components (single uplink and servers).
  • Tier 2 = Tier 1 + Redundant capacity components.
  • Tier 3 = Tier 1 + Tier 2 + Dual-powered equipments and multiple uplinks.
Tier 3: Guaranteeing 99.982% availability.
For more information see Dattum data center.

Our servers are located in TIER III data center, so they have double power supply and double internet connection, additionally we perform regular server maintenances and data backups.

Yes, it is possible, but we have to be only admin for those servers, it is possible to host solution in our data center, on Microsoft Azure, on third party hosting service provider. There might be some additional costs but it is possible.

The portal solution is available as-is and you cannot make changes yourself but you can request chargeable customization from the vendor.

There are no out-of-the box ‘adaptors’ available - but our solution employs SOAP protocol which allows to connect it to 3rd party systems by implementing integration.

Our solution is integrated module to Microsoft Dynamics NAV available in many languages and supporting many country legislations. You can find which localizations are available out-of-the-box here: Local Functionality for Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016
Many partners offer other localization for other countries not included in the list. Contact your local partners to find out if country specific functionality is available.

We have customers who use this solution for near 10 years, we have just upgraded them for new version of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and time to time add new functionality in demand, after each new option is implemented in solution we perform tests.

It is possible to do it yourself, but it is also possible to use our or some local Partner help, to get things working faster. We can help with standard functionality and all other questions regarding specific solution, for local legislation question it’s better to use local Partner.

1.There is description about data center where our servers are held. I think its possible also to get certificate copy from them if that's needed.
For more information see Dattum data center.
2. Data backups - we make backups to mirror server each 24h, its is also possible to give DB copies to you. We use https for secure connection, also production SQL servers are not the same where is Skybill, so it is normally not possible to access data without appropriate link and passwords, this is Microsoft technology, not ours.
3. From firewalls point of view there are 2 levels, 1 is from Data center - protections against D-DOS attacks etc. other is our own, will not mention them there for security reason.
4. It is always possible to set up all this on some other server (but it can take some 1-2 day setup time)

There is no such limits, our average clients have 10-50k customers, some have 300k customers, as system is scalable (billing can be done in portions, divide in parts and billed separately), and also hardware is scalable, there are no problems to bill also 1M customers.

As we use Microsoft Dynamics as platform then official limit is 1- 999 users, we have tested with 150 system users from one company.

There are no specific meters to use system, any meters can be used, but data gathering is different - some meter readings can be automated some can be read just manually.
Skybill billing can be set up to gather data automatically, but if there is no such option for meters, there is forms where data can be entered manually.

SkyBill can fetch meter readings via special gateway system which provides an interface between M-BUS ( or whatever protocol is used by your meters) and TCP/IP network.
You need to have gateway or some headend system between meter network and Skybill, then Skybill will fetch meters automatically.

Costs can be divided in 3 parts.
One is license costs, this vary from country to country, as we use Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central as base and so also total costs differ. Call support to get price for your region.
Second part is implementation costs – this depends how many customizations needed, and data migration, and teaching courses, this sum can vary in very huge range. As we give 20h free for start it is possible to start with nearly 0 implementation costs, but if there will be lot of customizations then our hourly rate is 85 USD/h.
Third part is system upkeep, this depends on SLA agreement, what reaction times you need, how many users have etc.

No, no need for monster PC, any PC with WIN7 and above will do.
